Modding AI Critters
With the Path of Titans Dev Kit, you are able to mod in custom critter AI.
In order for critter AI to spawn on the map, you must assign it to a burrow placed on your map, or to a critter spawn point.
Step 1: Import Mesh, Animations, and Setup Materials
- Import your mesh and textures into your Mod folder in the Dev Kit.
- Import your animations and ensure they are scaled correctly. Please reference the base game critters to see what animations are required, such as a dig, death, run, and alert animation.
- Create the various Blendspaces and animation montages for your critter, set up exactly the same as base game critters. Pay attention to the Axis names in the blendspaces in particular.
- Create a separate material instance for each skin your critter may use. If you do not have multiple skins, you can simply have 1 material instance.
Step 2: Create Critter Animation Blueprint
- Inside your critter folder, right-click and select `
- Open your newly created Animation Blueprint and also open a base game critter Animation Blueprint (found at: )
- Copy the contents of the "AnimGraph" from the base game critter into your Mod Critter's Animation Blueprint. We do this to save time setting it up.
- Open the Locomotion Machine and slot in your critter's unique animations. Ensure that no base game critter animations are being referenced anywhere within your Animation Blueprint, as this may cause a crash.
